How to Get Free Gems in Cooking Fever: Every Method That Works

Guides · published 2026-08-12 · figures from Nordcurrent official documentation

Gems are the currency that actually gates Cooking Fever. Unlocking every restaurant in the game costs 1,125 gems, which is not a figure you drift toward by accident. Nordcurrent publishes a table of every activity that pays out gems, and it contains one genuine surprise.

A note on naming before the list. The game calls them gems, but the blue stones look like diamonds and most players search for Cooking Fever diamonds instead. Cooking Fever gems and Cooking Fever diamonds are the same currency, so everything below applies whichever word you use. Gem shards are a separate item that converts into gems, and those are covered further down.

Everything here is a free, in game method. Nothing on this page asks you to pay, and there is no generator or code involved, because no such thing exists for this game.

How to get gems in Cooking Fever: every official source

From Nordcurrent’s own currency documentation. Some of these guarantee a gem drop, others only have a chance of one.

The surprise: watching ads pays no gems. Half the guides online recommend grinding reward videos for gems. Nordcurrent’s own table lists ads as a coin source and explicitly not a gem one. If you have been watching videos hoping to save toward a restaurant, you have been earning the wrong currency.

The free gem sources actually worth your time

Community Hub and friend invites

These two are unusual: they pay gems and nothing else. No coin dilution, no chance roll on the currency type. Checking the Hub costs nothing and takes seconds, which makes it the highest return per minute of anything on the list.

Gem shards

Nine shards convert into a gem. Shards come from daily quests, the casino, the Calendar of Rewards, watching ads and the periodic Gem Shards Event. Note that ads do pay shards even though they do not pay gems directly, which is the one legitimate reason to keep watching them.

Challenges over Tournaments

A Challenge costs 14 gems to enter and pays 30 on completion, a guaranteed return. A Tournament costs 20 gems and only pays a profit from about eighth place upward. Details are in our tournaments and challenges guide.

The Calendar of Rewards

Free, daily, and it pays gems, coins and shards. It also has rules that quietly cost people their rewards, which we cover in the Calendar of Rewards guide.

What gems actually get spent on

Earning is only half the picture. Knowing where gems drain fastest changes which sources are worth chasing.

SpendGem cost
Unlocking every restaurant1,125 total
Single mid game restaurant25 to 35
Tournament entry20 each time
Challenge entry14 each time
Saving a tournament streak2 per save

The pattern is that the small repeated costs are what actually empty a balance. A player entering one tournament and one challenge a week, saving a streak twice, spends around 38 gems weekly before unlocking anything at all.

A realistic weekly routine

If you want to accumulate rather than tread water, the free sources have to be habits rather than things you remember occasionally:

  • Daily. Collect the Calendar of Rewards, check the Community Hub, clear the daily quests. All three pay gems or shards, and all three take under two minutes combined.
  • Weekly. Take the Challenge if it lands in a location you have fully equipped. Guaranteed 30 gems for 14.
  • Ongoing. Play levels you have not completed before rather than replaying a comfortable one. New levels raise your account XP, and levelling up pays gems while replays do not.
  • Occasional. Invite a friend. It is one of only two sources that pays gems and nothing else.

What this adds up to

Play consistently and use every free source and you will accumulate gems steadily. The honest arithmetic is that steadily is not the same as quickly. Against a total of 1,125 gems to open every restaurant, plus 14 or 20 per competitive entry, plus 2 gems every time you save a tournament streak, free earning keeps you moving rather than keeping you supplied.

That gap between what the game asks and what it hands out for free is the entire commercial design, and it is the reason modified builds exist at all.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get gems in Cooking Fever?

Level up your account, clear daily quests, check the Community Hub, collect the Calendar of Rewards, spin the casino wheel, open mystery boxes, grow fruits, finish location tasks, invite a friend, or convert nine gem shards. Tournaments and Challenges also pay them. Those are every official source Nordcurrent lists.

How do you get free gems in Cooking Fever?

Every method on this page is free. The best returns per minute are the Community Hub and friend invites, because those two pay gems and nothing else, and the daily Calendar of Rewards. A Challenge costs 14 gems to enter and pays 30 back, so it is the only entry fee worth treating as a free source.

How do you get diamonds in Cooking Fever?

Diamonds and gems are the same thing. The blue stones in the top bar are called gems by the game and diamonds by most players, so any guide to one applies to the other. Use the sources listed above; there is no separate diamond currency to chase.

Do you get gems for watching ads in Cooking Fever?

No, and this is the most common mistake. Nordcurrent’s own currency table lists watching ads as a source of coins and gem shards, not gems. Shards are still worth collecting because nine of them convert into a gem, but the videos never pay a gem directly.

How do you collect gem shards in Cooking Fever?

Shards come from daily quests, the casino, the Calendar of Rewards, watching ads and the periodic Gem Shards Event. Nine shards convert into one gem. It is slow, but it is the one genuine reason to keep watching reward videos once you know they pay no gems directly.

How many gems do you need to unlock everything?

1,125 gems to open every restaurant in the game, alongside 1,043,000 coins. Set that against a level up paying roughly 4 gems and the pace becomes clear, which is why free earning keeps you moving rather than keeping you supplied.

Can you get unlimited gems in Cooking Fever?

Not through any in game method, and no online generator or code works, whatever a site claims. The only thing that removes the limit is a modified build of the game, which is a different subject with its own trade offs. Our Cooking Fever Mod APK page covers what that actually changes and what it cannot.

The short answer

Check the Community Hub daily, collect the Calendar every day at roughly the same time, take Challenges whenever one appears in a location you have fully equipped, and stop watching ads expecting gems. Ads pay coins and shards, and shards are a slow route to the same place.

More of this kind of thing, on every part of the game, is collected on our Cooking Fever guides page.
