Cooking Fever Boosters Guide: Income, Wait Time and Payout
Cooking Fever boosters are single use items that change one level at a time, and the game explains them less clearly than anything else it sells. This guide covers all six: the three you switch on before a level and the three you fire mid service, what each changes, when the game charges you, the one free source, and which levels justify one. It is part of our Cooking Fever guides.
What Cooking Fever boosters are and when you unlock them
The community wiki records that boosters arrived in a July 2023 update and unlock at player XP level 8, the account XP that our XP levels guide covers. Nordcurrent’s support article, Level Boosters and how to use them, describes them as a way to finish levels more easily while earning more score and coins.
Every booster is consumed once, and there are two families. Nordcurrent calls the first Passive Bonus Boosters: you pick one on the level start screen and it applies to that level only. The second is one time boosters, tapped during play for an immediate effect.
The three passive boosters
| Booster | What it changes for that level |
| Income Boost | Every ingredient you serve pays double coins |
| Wait Time Boost | Customers wait longer for their order before leaving |
| Payout Boost | The income you earned is tripled when you finish the level |
Those descriptions come from the wiki’s Boosters page and are the only published figures for what a booster does. Nordcurrent’s article gives no multipliers, and neither source says whether Income Boost and Payout Boost can run on the same level, so do not plan around stacking them.
Wait Time Boost is the odd one out. It does not raise income directly; it cuts the number of customers who walk out, and a walkout is income you never see.
The three action boosters
| Booster | What happens when you tap it |
| Frozen Clock | The level timer and customer patience freeze for 20 seconds |
| Extra Customer Call | One more customer joins the level’s queue |
| Covered Dishes | Every dish currently requested is served at once |
The wiki calls the extra customer booster Faces, after its icon. Nordcurrent’s article on completing levels calls it the Extra Customer Call Booster: another customer raises the score and income a level can reach, which makes three stars easier. Frozen Clock gives you 20 seconds of serving with neither timer moving. Covered Dishes is the panic button.
What Cooking Fever boosters cost and when the game takes it
Neither source prices a booster in coins or gems. The wiki states that boosters are bought with real money or earned by harvesting a Dragon Fruit in the Garden, and Nordcurrent’s article lists no coin or gem price for any of the six. If the in game shop offers a booster pack, the price on that screen is the price, and it changes with offers.
What Nordcurrent does state precisely is when a passive booster is spent: it is deducted from your balance once you earn the first income from the level, meaning the first completed order.
The first order is the trigger. Activate a passive booster, realise you picked the wrong level, and quit before serving anyone: the game has not taken it. Fail a level after that first payment and the booster is gone along with the run. So switch passive Cooking Fever boosters on for levels you know you can finish, not levels you hope to.
Action boosters are spent the instant you tap them. The sources describe no refund.
How to get Cooking Fever boosters without paying
The only free source either document names is the Garden. Nordcurrent’s article on seeds says seed packs occasionally drop from paying customers and are also sold in app. Plant a Dragon Fruit seed, look after it, and the harvest pays a bundle sized by rarity. Nordcurrent’s table lists Common at 1,000 coins, 5 gems, 3 casino tickets and 1 random booster; Rare at 4,000 coins, 15 gems, 7 casino tickets and 2 random boosters; Epic at 10,000 coins, 70 gems, 20 casino tickets and 5 random boosters.
Two limits. The booster is random, so you cannot farm one type. And neglect the plant and the article says no reward is given at all. Dragon Fruit also pays gems, so it features in our guide to every free gem source.
Which levels justify a booster, and which waste one
Worth it
- Payout Boost on a level you already three star. Spend it where orders pay well. Unlocking every restaurant takes 1,043,000 coins, and the full unlock table shows where they go.
- Income Boost while grinding for an upgrade. Doubling ingredient coins on a level you clear anyway is a clean trade.
- Wait Time Boost on a level you keep failing to walkouts, before you own the interior upgrades that lengthen patience.
- Frozen Clock or Extra Customer Call when the timer ends a few coins short of a star. Both lift the ceiling of a level you nearly cleared.
A waste
- Any passive booster on a level you might fail. The first order charges you, and a failed run pays nothing back.
- Wait Time Boost on a level you already clear comfortably.
- Covered Dishes with one or two orders open. Its value grows with the queue.
- Payout Boost on a low income level. A tripled small number is still small.
One gap to flag. Nordcurrent’s article on tournaments and challenges does not say whether boosters are allowed in either, and the wiki is silent too. A tournament costs 20,000 coins plus 20 gems to enter, so check the level start screen before you count on one. Entry maths is in our tournaments and challenges guide.
Frequently asked questions
What do boosters do in Cooking Fever?
They change a single level. Passive ones are set before you start: Income Boost doubles ingredient coins, Wait Time Boost keeps customers waiting longer, Payout Boost triples what you finish with. Action ones are tapped mid level: Frozen Clock stops both timers for 20 seconds, Extra Customer Call adds a customer, Covered Dishes serves every open order at once.
How do you get boosters in Cooking Fever?
The community wiki names two routes: buying them with real money, or harvesting a Dragon Fruit in the Garden. Nordcurrent’s seeds article puts the harvest at 1, 2 or 5 random boosters depending on whether the seed was Common, Rare or Epic. Seed packs drop from customers occasionally and are also sold in the shop.
Do Cooking Fever boosters cost coins or gems?
Neither, as far as the published sources go. Nordcurrent’s support article and the community wiki describe boosters as items you hold, obtained through real money purchases or Dragon Fruit harvests, and neither lists a coin or gem price for any of the six. Whatever the in game shop shows for a booster pack is the live price and it varies with offers.
When is a booster deducted in Cooking Fever?
For a passive booster, Nordcurrent’s article says it leaves your balance once you earn the first income from the level, meaning the first order a customer pays for. Quit before that and you keep it. Action boosters such as Frozen Clock are spent the instant you tap them, with no refund the sources describe.
Can you use boosters in Cooking Fever tournaments?
Nordcurrent’s tournament and challenge article does not address boosters, and the wiki’s Boosters page does not either, so this site cannot confirm it. Because a tournament costs 20,000 coins and 20 gems to enter, look at the level start screen for the booster slots before you rely on one to reach a paying rank.
What level do you unlock boosters in Cooking Fever?
The community wiki lists player XP level 8, and dates the feature to a July 2023 update. That is account XP rather than a restaurant level, so it arrives early, well before the restaurants and levels where a Payout or Income booster is worth the most.
The short answer
Treat Cooking Fever boosters as rare items, because the only free source is a Dragon Fruit harvest. Use Payout Boost on a well paying level you already three star, Income Boost when grinding for an upgrade, and Wait Time Boost only where walkouts cost you the level. Never put a passive booster on a level you might fail, since the first paid order spends it. No source publishes a coin or gem price.
